Despite having applied for Ration Cards 2 years ago, they have not received it.
Ration Cards are issued by a government allowing the holder to obtain certain rations. Rationing is the controlled distribution of scarce resources, goods, or services. Rationing controls the size of the ration, one’s allotted portion of the resources being distributed on a particular day or at a particular time. They are also used to provide goods to the poor sections of the society at highly subsidize prices.
In this video Community Correspondent Abdul Shakeel interviews people belonging to the Below Poverty Line segment of society. They have been waiting for their ration cards for the past 2 yrs. They were requested to fill out the forms but yet they have not received their cards. This means that they are forced to buy commodities at the normal MRP rate, which is nearly impossible for many people classified as BPL.
