At Meera Bazaar in Pakur town, Jharkhand there are more than 40 -50 Gungulia families trying to survive. Gulgulia (schedule caste) is a community which earns their living by playing music ,rope dancing, selling alcohol and begging for alms,. These are extremely poor families who barely have their basic necessitates in place.
These families live in an open area and deal with the worst climatic conditions without a roof over their head. Living in such terrible conditions, the Gulgulia’s very obviously question their worth and importance in the eyes of the Indian Government.
“If the government can take away our home, they can also give us another one”
The Gulgulia’s demand that the government provide them basic health facilities and education for atleast their children’s better future.
“How will we give our child a steady education when we are displaced all the time?”
What is the future of these people? What is the responsibility of the government? Or should they continue to hope that one day god will change their lives?
