Shambhuraj Tanwar
I live in Derwada of Rajasthan. I belong to the khatik community, which is an underprivileged community of my state.
Although my community faces numerous hardships, they are never reported by mainstream media. For instance, there is a group of dalit people in my community. Till today they have not got their BPL cards, even tough they are extremely poor. In the last year, five ministers and government officials have visited the area and promised to give them the BPL cards. Each time the media has reported about the visit and the promise. The fact is, till now, nobody has got the card, and no media has tried to find out what happen to the promises. As a community correspondent I would be able to do a follow up story on that, and hopefully to bring about some changes for them.
Being a Community Correspondent would enable to speak out all the discriminations people experience around me.
